Jens Leinert

Candidacy for the Executive Board of the Bitcoin Federal Association

Board Member of the German Bitcoin Association · Bitcoin Payments Expert · Entrepreneur · Investor
Over 20 years of experience in online payments · Bitcoin since 2013 · Bitcoin & Lightning since 2017

Dear Members of the German Bitcoin Association,

My name is Jens Leinert, and I am running again for the board of the Bitcoin Federal Association on September 26, 2026.

Over the past two years, I have had the privilege of serving on the board and actively contributing to the development and work of our association. I would like to continue this work and continue to use my experience in Bitcoin, payments, entrepreneurship, and association work to advance the interests of our members and Bitcoin companies in Germany.

I have been working in the field of online payments for over 20 years. After completing a banking apprenticeship and earning a degree in business administration, I have been involved in the development of digital payments from the very beginning and have helped merchants, service providers, and e-commerce companies implement and optimize payment solutions.

I have been deeply involved with Bitcoin since 2013, and since 2017, I have focused exclusively on Bitcoin and the Lightning Network. My primary focus is on how Bitcoin and Lightning can be successfully integrated into businesses as a means of payment.

As the CEO of the Bitcoin e-commerce agency Internetactive, we operate, among other things, the Bitcoin payment consulting firm Coincharge. In addition, I support Coinsnap, a software company that develops solutions enabling merchants to accept Bitcoin and Lightning payments. I am also an investor in Bitcoin companies.

I would like to continue working toward this goal

  • Strengthening Bitcoin as a Means of Payment: My primary goal is to further establish Bitcoin as a means of payment. This involves raising awareness of which companies already accept Bitcoin, supporting other companies in adopting it, and removing existing barriers.
  • Improved legal and tax frameworks: Bitcoin payments must become easier and more practical for businesses and consumers. That is why I intend to continue working to identify tax and regulatory barriers and to submit concrete proposals for improvement to policymakers and government agencies.
  • Preserving the Holding Period: I am actively involved in the proHaltefrist initiative, which advocates for maintaining the one-year holding period for Bitcoin. I would like to continue to closely align this commitment with the work of the Bitcoin Federal Association.
  • Applying lessons learned from proHaltefrist to other political issues: The initiative has demonstrated how important it is to have well-informed, coordinated, and publicly visible advocacy. I would like to apply these lessons in the future to other issues relevant to Bitcoin—such as DAC8, the digital euro, and other regulatory initiatives.
  • Expanding the association’s communication and visibility: I am active on the Marketing Committee of the Bitcoin Federal Association. Our agency also manages the websites bitcoin-bundesverband.de and prohaltefrist.de. I want to help ensure that the Federal Association communicates its positions more effectively and is recognized as a competent point of contact for policymakers, the business community, the media, and the general public.
  • Representing the Interests of Bitcoin Companies: As an entrepreneur, I am familiar with the practical challenges that Bitcoin companies face in Germany. The Bitcoin Federal Association aims to give these companies a strong voice and advocate for a regulatory framework that enables innovation rather than hindering it.

Over the past two years, I have seen just how important a proactive national association is for the Bitcoin industry in Germany. At the same time, I see a great deal of potential for expanding our political work, involving companies more closely, and promoting Bitcoin as a means of payment in Germany.

I would like to continue the work I have done on the board so far, take on responsibility, and work together with the new board to further develop the Bitcoin Federal Association in technical, political, and organizational terms.

I appreciate your support and your vote.
