Holding period task force of the Bitcoin Bundesverband starts work<\/strong><\/span><\/h1>\n[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””]\n

On May 7, 2026 at 4:30 pm, the Bitcoin Bundesverband’s holding period task force will meet for the second time.<\/p>\n

The background to this is the current political discussion surrounding possible changes to the taxation of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.<\/p>\n

It is clear to us:<\/p>\n

\u274c Hands off the holding period for Bitcoin & Co. \u274c<\/h2>\n

The existing tax regime has provided planning security for investors, companies and innovators for years. Abolishing or restricting the holding period would have far-reaching consequences for Germany as a business location, for investments and for the practical use of Bitcoin. <\/p>\n

The aim of the task force is therefore to work together with other associations, companies, CASPs, investors and other stakeholders to maintain the status quo.<\/p>\n

This is not just about the interests of individual Bitcoin investors. A tightening of taxation would: <\/p>\n[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1778069550172{margin-left: 50px !important;}”]\n

  • Putting the brakes on innovation and entrepreneurship in the crypto sector<\/li>\n
  • create considerable bureaucratic burdens<\/li>\n
  • make the use of Bitcoin as a means of payment more difficult<\/li>\n
  • and set Germany back further in international competition<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=””]\n

    At the same time, there are considerable doubts as to whether the publicly discussed additional revenue from stricter crypto taxation is even realistic. Political decisions should be based on reliable data – not on speculative assumptions about potential additional tax revenue. <\/p>\n

    Particularly in times of high national debt, it would be problematic to base budget planning on expected revenues whose actual realization is questionable.<\/p>\n

    That is why we are committed to an objective, fact-based and innovation-friendly discussion at an early stage.<\/p>\n

    Cooperation instead of individual actions<\/h2>\n

    Talks are already underway with other market participants, companies, media players and interest groups in order to launch a broad joint initiative.<\/p>\n

    Because it is also clear:
