Beer of Satoshi: Beer enjoyment meets Bitcoin – a new member of the Bitcoin Bundesverband
With Beer of Satoshi, the Bitcoin Bundesverband welcomes an innovative and passionate new member that shows just how diverse and creative Bitcoin culture can be. The project combines traditional brewing craftsmanship with modern technology and creates points of contact with the world of Bitcoin in a playful way.
An idea from the community for the community
The idea for Beer of Satoshi was born at the 2024 Bitcoin Conference in Amsterdam – where enthusiasts from all over the world come together to shape the future of Bitcoin. The symbolic starting block 865,028 of the Bitcoin blockchain marked the beginning of a journey that combines enjoyment, gamification and education.
The team behind Beer of Satoshi is on a mission to bring Bitcoin culture to life in a refreshing way – and with a twinkle in its eye: a small Bitcoin surprise awaits under every crown cap. Using a QR code in the cap, random amounts of Satoshis (Sats) can be transferred directly to your own wallet via the Lightning network. This turns every beer into a small experience that playfully deepens your understanding of Bitcoin.
“Drink beer, stack sats, support Bitcoin”
With this motto, Beer of Satoshi strikes a chord with the community: fun, technology and support for the network go hand in hand. 2.1% of the proceeds from each bottle flow directly into the further development of the Bitcoin infrastructure and into community projects – a genuine commitment to the decentralized idea.
Gamification as a bridge to the Bitcoin world
The project shows how low-threshold onboarding can work. The playful concept motivates newcomers who may not yet have tried a Lightning wallet to take a closer look at Bitcoin. At the same time, Beer of Satoshi promotes cohesion within the community through shared experiences at meetups, conferences or regulars’ tables.
